I went to this branch with my great aunt, who was seeking assistance from her bank to help her find any assets from old copies of stocks and bonds. We arrived at about 4:30PM, only to find about 5-6 people waiting to speak with one rep standing at a computer by the back door. This was the person who was helping my great aunt, and who had requested she bring a copy of my great uncle's death certificate. We waited about 10 minutes or so, when a woman came over and asked if we could give her the death certificate to copy for him. I said I wanted to speak with this rep and waited a few minutes more. We were called over (in front of other who were waiting a long, long time), and I asked to see the file. Immediately, he started brushing us off and said he had no copies, and he was only helping my great aunt. When I asked what letters he was sending out and for what purpose, he stated he was only helping and didn't want to get involved of our disagreement. What disagreement was he referring to?? I indicated I had been working with my great aunt for about 6-8 months, and wanted to see the file. He told me he had no file, he had no papers of my great aunt's, and he was only trying to help her find any old assets. What?? I then asked him why he needed to have my great uncle's death certificate, especially being he had no papers of my aunts. AT NO TIME DID ANY MANAGER COME OVER AND ASK WHAT WAS GOING ON! What?? Why was this "person" getting involved in my great aunt's business AND if he was only trying to help, why wouldn't he answer my aunt's question as to what happened to her papers and files!! This is extremely frightening to think that a bank would be taking advantage of an elderly person, raking her in with kindness and pleasantries . . . and claims that they have shredded her papers and copies of HER DOCUMENTS!! Why was he asking for a copy of my great uncle's death certificate IF IN FACT HE SHREDDED ALL COPIES OF HER DOCUMENTS???? Why is it THAT NO MANAGER APPROACHED US and asked what was going on? This was going on in front of numerous customers, and our "business" was being discussed in front of "the public"!! I'm not done investigating this issue and I am sure they are in violation of some banking and privacy laws!!
