Yesterday I went to check my bank account at the ATM. My wife and I had deposited $5,000 the day before. My account had been deactivated. When I called the branch manager, Stacey Taylor, she proceeded to tell me in a condescending, loud, and rude tone that the check we deposited "did not jibe with Citizen Banks standards" and that they were going to hold the check and suspend that my account would be deactivated for the duration. When I walked in to confront her about the absurdity of Citizen Bank holding my money hostage, she made a loud announcement in the same nasty tone "You only have a couple hundred dollars in the account anyway..." She then turned and walked into her office and slammed the door behind her.
Here's the rub - when my wife and I called our regular bank, Wells Fargo, to explain what happened, they were baffled. The manager informed us that Citizen Bank was not "holding" the check. They had cashed the check.
We are lodging a formal complaint with the FDIC.

I made an appointment to meet with the bank manager given a large amount of money was going to be invested at this bank location at 66 West Main St. Webster NY 14580. The manager was very arrogant, spoke in an aggressive manner and acted as if I was wasting his time. It made me very uncomfortable so I contacted a different staff member on another day to ask questions and heard her ask a colleague the question, and when she transferred my call, it ended up being the same manager unfortunately! He spoke again with his condescending tone questioning me why I called after he already met with me rather than trying to answer my banking questions?!! Not only extremely unprofessional, but really has some anger issues —very rude! Will never bank there again and he should be fired. I am sure he is driving customers away!!

As a business owner , I am extremely displeased with how Citizens run their operations. My account has been supposedly suspended due to fraudulent activity. So I figured okay , I’ll just call them & verify theirs no fraud activity. NOBODY ANSWERED THE PHONE. I stayed on hold sitting in the parking lot for 2 hours till I finally had enough. So that being said how can I pay my employees if I can’t pull any funds from my account? I most certainly will not be referring this bank to ANYONE on that matter unless you want your accounts locked up.
