Wells fargo customer service - lack of integrity

I deposited over $300,000 a few months ago and was told at the time that they would easily look at a mortgage.
I told them this week I wanted to buy a company locally, would be using different cash for that and wanted to look at a mortgage. Mortgage broker looked at me with distain and told me I would have to wait 2 years to build up a credit profile and maybe he would do it them. I told him I was looking at mortgage based on what I was told at the time of opening the deposit. He said that must have been a rouse to get the deposit account opened but his position stood.
I don't really need a mortgage as I have just sold a business in Australia for $8million. Wells fargo will not be seeing my money or business in the future.
No wonder they gat the lowest ratings in customer satisfaction.

The above review smells funny.  Bad grammar and overuse of the word "mortgage." I don't buy it.

Normally, I wouldn't think to put up a bank branch review, but I Googled my branch (Louetta/Grant) to get the phone number today and saw some very unhappy reviews. I know people are more likely to review when they're angry so I thought it only fair to report my experiences at the branch.

My accounts are all personal, not business, and I don't need to do anything exotic, so maybe that makes a difference.

Two years ago, I opened a CD and another account with Peter. My husband and I also went in on another occasion to open a an account and Peter helped us. On both occasions he was extremely nice, helpful, and explained our options patiently. He always has a smile on his face and remembers us when he sees us.

A couple of weeks ago, we opened an account for my step-son with Brittany, since Peter was busy with a customer. She was tons of fun. Great attitude. Laughed at all our jokes--that's the most important thing. Couldn't have been nicer.

Today, I realized my CD had matured and it would automatically renew if I didn't transfer the money during the grace period. I called the branch and talked to Brittany. She told me I needed to come in. I asked if it was busy right then since I'm 5 minutes from the bank. She said it wasn't and she was stepping out, but she'd make sure another banker had it ready for me. I admit I was a bit skeptical about whether anyone would really be "ready for me," since there's so much incompetence and disinterest in business's customer service nowadays.

When I walked in, a banker heard me tell the teller I'd talked to Brittany. He called me by name and said he had things ready for me. His name was Cory. He seemed very glad to help and when I told him I get migraines in florescent light, he made an effort to get things done quickly. He looked at ID, had me sign something he had ready, then had to go to the back for a couple of minutes.

While he was gone, Peter finished with a customer and came over to chat. He remembered that I'm a writer and my husband's a software consultant. He asked if I had more books coming out, if my husband still had to travel a lot, how my daughter was, etc. This is information he learned a year or two ago.

So, bottom line, the only 3 bankers I've worked with and the people behind the counter have always been very nice and helpful at this branch. Between my accounts, my daughters and my husband's, we have about a dozen accounts and no bad experiences to report there.

I have not had any cause to deal with managers or other bankers besides the ones mentioned in this review.

After dealing with JAson for weeks to close accounts with fees, I still have 2 accounts that have not been closed. Now I have a negative balance because the fees hit after he was supposed to close the account. He did close an account. The main one. Nice. Waiting on hold for an hour to be told he is with a customer. Good luck to that customer. My direct deposit will now be deposited into the abyss.

I closed all but one of my WF accounts a few years ago due to their ineptness but kept one free checking account to deposit small checks (my main bank is 7 miles away).  I finally closed this account last week because they were going to start charging a monthly fee unless I kept a minimum balance.  My place of work issues petty cash checks payable to me (on a WF account but in a different town) and up until last week I was always able to go in and cash this check through my personal account.  I went to cash a $59 check earlier this week and was told I now needed id as I didn't have an account which was fair enough.  I came back, grabbed my id and headed back up to see the manager and the first employee I had talked to heading out the door.  I was told by another cashier that the manager had to sign off on the check and I would have to wait for her.  Ten minutes later they came back and were doing whatever behind the counter; I asked how much longer as I had to get back to work and the manager told me it would be a few minutes yet, there were other people in front of me, and "I have an appointment at 10am".  I left.  Today after calming down a bit I went back with my check and id.  When I walked in and saw the manager at a desk with 2 people waiting I knew it was bad news.  The checker (a new one I'd never seen before) told me she needed the manager to sign off on the check and I would need a second form of id.  I told her I was told just 2 days ago that I only needed one form of id and she said no, she needed two.  So I left again.  No wonder Wells Fargo is losing as much business as they are.  I am going to deposit the check into my regular account and will get cash back.  Bunch of idiots.

Husband and employer went to cash check for $8000 with employer present and bank manager was rude and obstructive. There was no excuse for the way both the account holder and my husband were treated. There was no problem with IDs and the check was good. The bank manager seemed to go out of his way to discourage a small business from using this bank. Employer is probably going to close his account.

And while all of this was going on, during the long wait, my husband spoke with two other bank customers there to close their accounts because of incompetence and rudeness.

My German friend wanted to change 100 euros to dollars. After telling her, no problem, we can help you and letting her show her ID and credit card, they told her that she needed an account with them. I had the same problem recently when I wanted to cash a Wells Fargo check a customer had given me.
Even if this is not the fault of the employees, they could ask up front, do you have an account with us because we can only help you if you do - instead of wasting our time with promises they can't keep.
This is really bad service, especially since my bank in Northfield does not have these restrictions which tells me that it can be different.

4 weeks ago, my husband and I went into the nearest Wells Fargo in our new location--Pan Am shopping center in Fairfax, VA--to add my name and get me cards for both my husband's checking and credit accounts and to update our account information since we recently moved and I recently changed my name (I have my own separate checking account at Wells Fargo as well).

The banker we met with was friendly but, we learned later, he did not do what was asked of him. We met with him for over a half hour and the only thing that he did correctly was to allow me to see all the pertinent accounts when I signed in online. He didn't update my contact information and he didn't arrange for cards in my name on my husband's accounts to be sent to me. We brought in all the necessary documents stating our address change, my name change, our marital status, etc. and he made copies of the documents we brought in, had us sign 3-4 different things 'verifying' and 'authorizing' the changes and our new information. He told us to expect my new cards in the mail within 10 business days.

We wait for 2 weeks just to find out that he actually had not added me to my husband's accounts successfully and I never received new cards for those accounts. So I went back into the same branch to try to straighten this out and met with another banker. I told her about my past experience and she shrugged and said there must have been a 'glitch' in the system and they were not able to process our request. She didn't seem to comprehend why I would be annoyed that I had to wait 2 weeks and then come back in again and made it seem like it was a common mistake.

Maybe it was a small mistake but I was pretty annoyed that she just made it seem like our time was not valuable so who cares if I have to come in twice to do something that should be very simple and straightforward. So, I was already frustrated with the service we had received at this point but I understand that things happen so I proceeded with this new banker, hoping she could issue me the cards for my husband's accounts and successfully update our contact information as well. It seemed like she knew what she was doing and I left after meeting with her for about 20 minutes and her telling me my new cards would be mailed to me within a week or so.

A week later I finally get the debit card, as expected. The next day I got a credit card, so I assumed that it was the credit card I requested, one that is tied to my husband's credit account. (I realize we have separate lines of credit but they had already done a credit check on me and I had been approved to be added to his account, or so I was told.)

Well, once I logged-in and found the credit account, I realize that it was not part of my husband's account after all but that she has issued me my own, completely separate credit card. Yeah, I was pretty annoyed but this was not such a big deal. I don't mind having my own credit card and the one I got has no fees and pretty good rewards so it wasn't the worst thing ever.

However, it is not what I asked for or what I went into Wells Fargo and spent approx. 50 minutes total of my time trying to get. I called the banker who I had seen most recently (since I had her business card) and, after waiting on hold for awhile, I told her about her error with the credit card. She was so rude on the phone. She kept interrupting me, she laughed in a condescending way when I said that I had never asked to have my own credit card, insisted that she hadn't done anything wrong, and she did not ever apologize. She kept saying 'well, you asked to get your own credit card, so...' and 'you are not allowed to just get a credit card on your husband's account without him authorizing it (scoff)' and 'I know you had a bad experience the first time you came in but the past is the past, don't try to make it seem like I did anything wrong.' Seriously? How unprofessional.

Perhaps I should have realized that I wouldn't be able to complete this whole process without my husband coming in with me a second time to 'authorize' that I could get a credit card under his account. However, I assumed incorrectly that since he had already been in with me once and had already signed authorizations for things, and since it was the first banker we worked with's error that put us in this situation in the first place, that she would be able to issue me a credit card under his account even without him there or that, if it was necessary for him to authorize it again, we could call him or she would simply tell me that I had to come back in with him again later. If she had told me when I was in there that I needed him there to authorize it, I would have been more annoyed, of course, but I would have understood and come back with him or had him call in later.

She didn't say anything like that. I explained the whole situation to her at least 3 times when I was in there and she seemed to understand. Then, when it turns out she didn't do what I asked and I called to question her about it, she got super defensive and nasty and refused to apologize for her mistake. She never would admit that she made a mistake.

That is what so infuriated me to the point that I wanted to write this review. She works in customer service, she made a mistake and instead of just saying 'I'm so sorry, what would you like me to do to remedy the situation?' She insists that I asked her to perform a service that I did not ask for...Even if I had asked for the wrong thing and it had not truly been her error, she still should have just apologized for the confusion. I really can't believe that it should be so difficult simply to add me to my husband's accounts. We brought in all the necessary documentation, we both came in at the same time and met with a banker and I really thought that this would be a simple, easy process. I got excuse after excuse from both bankers--oh, it was a glitch in the system; oh, you told us you wanted your own credit card; oh, you came in right before a holiday weekend so it was really busy (what on earth does that have to do with anything?!). And totally unprofessional, rude attitude from that second banker. I can't believe she has a job in customer service. I know the names of both the bankers I worked with but I am hesitant to post their names here because I don't want to be nasty just because that second banker was.

But I will not go back to this branch location.

Wells Fargo has got to be the worst bank there is. Lets just say I was there to close out my accounts and not only did I have to wait OVER AN HOUR to talk to someone about it.. But once I got my cashiers check and was sent up to a teller, I had to wait another 20 minutes. Oh and to make matters even better, they were $500 short on the cashiers check..and if I hadn't called Wells Fargo member services and findout through them that I was right about thinking they were short, they never would have called me because according to them"everything balanced out at the end of the day". So now, ONE WEEK after they've pretty much stolen my money, they still haven't given me any of it back because they had to "order it." I hope this story says enough. Not only don't go to this branch, but switch banks ASAP. They have always sucked. If they won't take your money literally, they'll do it through BS fees.

I concur...this is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I was recently a fraud victim that was not protected and they suspected fraudulent activity on my acct, but didn't close the acct until I notified them in regards, but mailed me a letter back dated days before the call. The check was wrote out to my daughter and signed by the perpetrator as well deposited on a Friday, and was able to withdraw over 2,000 when ONLY 57 dollars was in the acct. How could that happen when there is no money to cover the check I ask...in my honest opinion an inside job. Now I not only file a claims report, but a police report in which the claims dept states they find no fraud activity, but how is that when I submitted my police report, because my daughter never resided where I reside and I am not going to make a claim or police report against myself. I will take this matter up the chain of command, because there is definitely something wrong with this and the resolution that I was given is not acceptable.

Went into this branch, waited for 15 minutes, saw I was probably going to be there a while. Luckily I don't usually bank there, so I went to another nearby bank, and took care of my business there.   Lesson for the bank, if you have four teller stations but are two cheap to have more than 2 tellers, it's going to look bad, and people are going to get frustrated and bank somewhere else.  Simple as that

Its probably not about being too cheap to hire more help....it may be about being careful about the people they hire. Its a bank...not a stop and go gas station. Id rather wait and have my money handled appropriately and correctly rather than be so fast and have someone make a mistake cause they dont take the time or care that they are dealing with what I use to live on....my money.

If you have an afternoon to waste, this is the bank for you. Their idea of customer service is to give you a comfortable chair and ignore you. I've been to the bank three times in the last month, and I'm still waiting for someone to take care of me. If I ever have a day to waste, I'll close my account and empty my safe deposit box there. Wachovia was OK when I opened the account, Wells Fargo would get 1/2 star if I could give them one.

I opened my account three mos ago.  I explained to the account rep what my needs were ie: withdraw, deposit and child savings account.  I emphasized my NEED to have deposit abilities thru my ATM.  Long story short... I didn't get what I asked for. AS A MATTER OF FACT ALL MY WORRIES AND FEARS of dealing with another bank came true, when I found out she signed me up for some restricted acct. Never was I told that the acct would be a restricted acct; she just kept "mmmmmhhmming and auhing" me. I came forward with my concerns, worst part was my interactions with the staff, by far the worst consumer service ever.  It seem there was more pawning me off to others who couldn't give me a definite answer to any of my questions.  The worst was when I closed my acct, I was pulled out of line to see yet another Acct rep all so he (Jon Nguyen) can hand me a white deposit slip and tells me "you can get back in line now"  ... I said, Are you serious?  Jon, ever so immaturely peeps his head up to see the now five people wait and says "yes, it's a short line"!!!  Geee, Thanks!  What can you find at Wells Fargo, Staff full of immaturity. lack of customer services skills and lack of knowledge!

I am very sure you over exaggerated this entire conversation. The staff are extremely nice, the people are friendly, and they make sure your needs are met. Yea it took me a little longer but there only like 4 lines there anyway and only 2 personal bankers because it was built for less people. You probably get bad customer service because your a bad customer.

She and her staff are extrememly professional, knowledgeable and caring.  I know what it takes to deliver an exceptional experience and appreciate her leadership and teamwork in ding so.  I am a regional doctor/mentor for a larger southern california dental office network bringing  teams together just as Brittny does.   People of her caliber are a rare find. Trying to get service is terrible.  Took me almost 3 months to refinance mortgage.  Had too many people working on it in different parts of the country and different departments.  I couldn't get a good answer from anyone when I had a question.  The typical right hand did not know what the left hand was doing.    On a different note, I talked with a banker about varios investment products.  Poor knowledge and try to push you to the Wells Fargo funds even if they underperform other funds. They have their own interests first it seems.  Would never work with them.

I have been banking with Wells Fargo since I was 19 years old and it was then Union Trust.

In May this year, my husband's business account was hacked into and the hacker stole $2,000.  Wells Fargo recommended that we close all of our accounts and re-open them, which we did.  It took the entire summer to straighten most everything out, but there are still a few outstanding items to be resolved.

Last month, my husband deposited a check into his business account in the amount of $10k.  WF put a hold on the check, making us wait 10 business days until we could access these funds.

Yesterday, he deposited a $7,500 check and the same thing happened.  When he questioned our banker and her manager, they out and out lied to us about the reason (I have come to find out that any checks deposited over $5k will more than likely be placed on hold, when I spoke to the Customer Service Rep at the "800" number I was given to call).  I do not appreciate being lied to!

We are a very small company that needs to meet payroll every Friday.  We cannot operate like this!

I will be switching banks tomorrow.  I just don't know which bank to switch to!!

Wells Fargo in general is a horrible bank.  They are not customer service oriented at all.  u have a problem, you solve it.  Never ask for a refund for a bounced check fee.  They bounced a $2 payment I had made and charged me $35.  They are the real robbers of today.  If I never had to use another bank, I would not.  But, of course, they make it so you cannot use their bank without an account.

I have made two attempts to have this branch help me with a non-profit YMCA account.  First they said that the account was too old and was a conversion from Wachovia.  So, I sat and waited and was told that they would get back to me.  A very nice Young Lady, Rachel helped me.  Later she did call me and left me a message.  I returned her call and then heard nothing back.  Few days later I got an e-mail asking me to rate their service, so I filled it out.  Few days after that, I got a call from the District Manager, Katey  Again very nice and she apologized for any inconvenience.  We set up an appointment for the 30th for me to meet with Rachel at 9am.  So, I go to the branch at 10831 Midlothian Tnpke to see her at 9 am and was told that she was not in.  A teller let me know that someone else would help me.  He disappeared into the back and then came out and mentioned to me, "are you the one that is trying to straighten out the YMCA non-profit account?"  I mentioned that yes, that was me.  The Manager did not come out and explain but had a teller do it for her.  So I waited over 25 minutes and then left.  If you cannot keep appointments that you set and then make people wait this is not very respectful of their time.  While people are nice at the bank, I give them poor ratings for their customer service.
