I was at this branch today assisting my client with a disability with making a deposit & getting a transaction record. The client was with me & showed her his state identification prior to making the deposit. She stated there had been no transactions from that account. I asked her for a copy of the transaction record indicating no transactions & she acted like she was being inconvenienced. I was surprised he hadn't had any transactions so I asked her "So you're saying there have been no deposits or withdrawals in the last 30 days from this account." She looked really annoyed & said in a nasty & emphatic manner "No". I asked her if he had had any other checking or savings accounts at 5/3rd. (I usually don't work with his money & my client would not be able to tell me if he had other accounts there. I asked because the financial staff had indicated he may have withdrawn more money from his account than his budget allowed.) She told me she could not tell me because I didn't have the account, even though he was standing right there & had identified himself! He had to ask her the same question again & she answered him in an exasperated manner. She interacted with us in a negative manner & I was not pleased with her quality of customer service. I would love it if her supervisor could talk to her about this.

Calling on a Sunday when a loan is not even LATE!!!!!
Overall Rating
by neverlate, May. 29, 2012
I have a mortgage and a car loan with 5/3. Neither of which has been late in a very, very, very long time. The car loan is about 1 1/2 years in existence, which has never, ever been late. It is not late until the 29th of each month, and due the 19th. I dropped it off on Friday evening in the night deposit, the 25th. Sunday my husband got a call on his cell phone reminding him that the loan would be late if not received by the next Tuesday.....yes, the next Tuesday....this call was made on a Sunday, Memorial weekend! He was out of town and did not have a clue. Isn't life stressful enough without a bank doing this? He called me to check and I told him it was already at the bank. We have NO history of late payments, STOP DOING THIS!!!!!!!!!

I put in a loan application Thursday, and its now Saturday, I have to keep contacting Lindsay to get her to get back with me. Still as of 2 p.m. today nothing, and it's now a long holiday weekend so it won't be until Tuesday. Very pitiful!!!! I now know why I hate that our mortgage is with them. Lindsay is very slow, I can see why they let her go once before.

I will never recommend this bank to another person in my life. They will never give you an honest and helpful answer to any of your questions. My father is a very wise investor, whom works for Edward Jones, and he warned me to avoid this bank not only for the TERRIBLE staff but, the BOGUS policies of fifth third bank, my fiancé and I decided that this was the best way to go in our small town and we both have paid dearly for it!
- The Loan Officers are IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of, they never return calls, and are spread far too thin.
- The accountants only need 6 months cash handling experience - meaning they don't have to understand how a bank works they just need to know how to count. I swear if I had a dime for every time something went wrong in that bank, I asked a simple question, and they said I don't know... I might have stayed banking with them.
- The higher ups at this bank are completely shellfish in fact they have event let my personal information side through a couple of times granted it was to my father calling on behave of me, but let's face it people are getting more and more shady anyone could have called.
- My fiancé’s card was charged an overdraft fee, that's not bad if... 1.) He hadn't signed a NO-OVER DRAFT policy meaning, if he doesn't have money or if what he is trying to buy exceeds the amount in his account then HE GETS NO MONEY!!!!! It's simple in theory and yet Hastings Fifth Third dropped the ball again. 2.) He had a 500.00 dollar balance and his paycheck was just deposited, and lastly 3.) If they could explain where the heck the money went I could understand but, they can't so hmmm.
Basically, do NOT bank there you will regret giving your business to this bank. The best thing I ever did was close my account and my money to CHASE BANK in CALEDONIA. Longer drive but for better staff, better banking, and better policies.

Our community in Kissimmee has clear "No Solicitation" signs posted as you enter. Today there were big flyers from Fifth Third Westside hanging from the outside doorknobs of the all the homes. Not only are they in poor taste and breaking the law, but since we are a community of many short term rentals, these big flyers signal to anyone entering our area, just which houses are currently unoccupied. How reckless and dangerous for all of us. Completely unprofessional. I wouldn't consider doing business with them now, just for that reason alone. Who could possible think that is a good marketing idea? Think Again.

Branch manager would not give my card back even with identification. ATM reader was not working and retained card, clearly not something I did. In addition the manager, Sara Williams, was unprofessional and extremely rude. All of my accounts are now closed, I would suggest not doing business or using any of their ATMs. I am extremely disappointed with this bank's service and lack of professionalism.

I went to the Kannapolis branch because I thought it couldnt be any worse than the Concord downtown branch....I was wrong. The biggest problem is that their employees dont know their basic services and or information. Im pulling my money as soon as I get the statements I ordered which no one seems to know how long that would be.

I deposited cash and it has not shown up for a week. I've been overcharged when I don't have an account for credit, and when I called to ask about an availability date they hung up on me. This bank abuses it's customers and its representatives in Elmhurst are mostly pains in the arse (I.E. Kay Sylvia etc.)

I used to work at the merchants walk branch back in 07 right before they were about to transition into fifth third bank. I had a manager there who was named julie. I was the only african american working there. I feel like the always singled me out and gave me a hard time with everything I did. They would smile in my face but do vindictive things to try to run me out the door. The only allowed me to work the drive through and treated me different then everyone else. Working there was a nightmare for me and they eventually lied to get me fired and ran me out the door. It was the worst job experience I have ever had in my life.

I made a payment at the branch in the Willis Tower (old Sears Tower)and discovered that it wasn't sent for my HELOC payment. After much investigation it turned out that there was some delay in the branch sending the payment. During the time the check payment had to be stopped. On top of that I was informed that due to the banks error I would not be penalized. Once we confirmed that the check had been stopped and we would not have multiple payments we made a payment for what was due at a different branch (St. John, Indiana.) Our next HELOC statement received showed that we were penalized with penalty interest of 10+% and are now having to take our time to have this removed.
So when you're told you will not be penalized don't believe that because you will and your time is MONEY!

OK this is not an experience for me per se, but I just went into the branch on Madison downtown Chicago. They were having an issue with their system and an African American woman was in line waiting on her transaction. For some reason the system went down during her transaction. They said very loudly how much she was taking out, how much she had left and kept telling me sorry for your wait. OK now this lady has $747 left in her account and was trying to take $340 ouot. They were very very loud and I couldn't believe it. I could have followed her to the currency change they sent her to to pay her light bill and robbed her if that was something I wanted to do. Were they serious???? Just plain tacky. I will report them.

I worked at Indian Shores Fl Branch. Was new but told on several times how great I was doing, even better than some older folks..I even ask if I could do some decoration of branch (it was Dec 08) not much decorating of lobby. Was told by MGR (Debbie)that sure, but she wasn't much into Christmas, she had some family members died in Dec.but Thank God not her kids..Of course that was until My Son died in a Car Wreck just 3 days after conversation.
Needless to say devastated, suicidal even. Under Dr's care for medical problems due to this. But was still nice enough to manage to get their bank keys back to them, in Feb.so they wouldn't be in trouble for an audit, or so they said. However, while trying to get better to go back to work in Mar. (I was told when I brought the keys in, Oh I understand, take your time)they fired me and had no knowledge, no call, no letter, but told I no longer had Insurance and couldn't see the Dr..
If this wasn't enough, I went to another 5/3 branch ask them to list My Daughter as a beneficiary on account,(still not sure I could make it thru this) and they added her to my account. We didn't realize until she had money missing from her account, they didnt do that. After checking into it by a different Bank MGR, we learned they had taken money, due to my overdraft of an automatic payment, and was done thru the branch who fired me and told this Bank MGR, My Daughter authorized it! She didn't even know this was going on, I hadn't told her! Oh But isnt this the Kind of Place My Tax Dollars went to, to HELP THEM!
Oh but when certain, customers came in who had so many bad checks we could run the check to cash it, it was ok to do some off the book type tranaction to cash it for them! Call this Fair Practice for who?

Not impressed at all!! In a short time i have had many issues. Fees reimbursed because of miscommunication. Direct deposit for car payment is all they will get from me.

Terrible service! Banker would not return my calls or give me an update on the status of a loan. Was told that the loan would take about 30 days, and 6 months later it is still "being processed." I would not use this bank again.

Tellers are WAY too familiar. When I cash a check they ask me in front of a line of customers, what I am going to do with my money! Not their business..... don't care about the Patriot Act. It is rude and compromises my safety. Also had a very bad mortgage closing at that bank. Settlement check bounced and loan did not close properly. I was told by the branch manager it was 'no big deal' and happens all the time! Really??? He never followed up with me to see if the issue resolved.

Terrible bank with the worst service or any bank I've ever seen. Tried to close my checking account and withdrew the money and opened an account at another bank. They kept charging monthly service charges and calling was a waste of time. Stayed with them 7 years until I finally had enough of them.

I'm writing to let you know about the kind of representation you have for your bank. Two weeks ago I got a cold call from this branch WILSON/44TH 4460 WILSON AVE SW GRANDVILLE, MI 49418 Phone: (616) 257-9260. I know this cause the caller ID gave me the number that I looked up. The person who was calling called about our mortgage and refinancing to get a lower rate. I told him I wasn't interested and he went on to tell about what was out there right now. I again said I wasn't interested and told him that we probably wouldn't be refinancing because we hoped to be building in a couple of years and it wouldn't be worth it for us to refinance now. He said acknowledged that...then I went on to say that we wouldn't be coming back to 5/3 for our next house because of the way 5/3 has treated me in the past because of my name not being on our current mortgage. I told him that month after month the bank sees MY signature on the check that pays OUR mortgage yet I'm not able to get any info on the mortgage. He said in a VERY sarcastic way...."WOWWWW, way to be honest!" I told him again that I pay the mortgage every month yet I can be told anything. His reply......"So I see. Your husband makes the money and you just pay the bills!" How in the heck does know if I have a job or not for one and is that the way you treat a customer! I didn't appreciate this treatment and this gives us even more reason NOT to come back to 5/3. We did not seek you out to begin with. The people who refinanced us did.
Thanks for your time. I hope this get to the correct people. The website didn't have many contacts on it.
Thanks,
Mary Aldrich

I can't complain enough. This is the most unfair organization I've ever dealt with in my life. If you aren't rich as hell, do not keep your money with 5/3. I had an overdraft on my account this week that was incorrectly posted -- I shouldn't have overdrafted, but their online banking is terrible and has a mind of its own, posts payments well after they have already occurred (making you think you have more money than you really do). I e-mailed customer service about it the day of, the day after, the next day, and the next day, and I STILL haven't heard back from them. There are $37 DAILY overdraft fees that built up this entire time. So I called them, talked to 4 different people, and they would not reimburse me for my overdrafts even though THEY caused them and even after I attempted to initiate contact with them FOUR times about correcting the overdraft. If I could afford a lawyer, I would sue to pants off of 5/3. Additionally, there was a problem 2 years ago when I attempted to pay off my credit card (about a $1,200 balance) and instead they doubled my credit card balance. DOUBLED it. I tried to contact them about it several times, and nothing was fixed, and nobody would actually talk to me about it -- the only thing they did was disable my access to pay my credit cards online. So now I don't even have that option, and they're making pay the double balance!!!!! I hate this bank with all of my heart, and finally got fed up enough to move my checking account to USAA, where the air is crisp. They actually care about you and your money, have FANTASTIC online banking, etc., etc. No problems with them whatsoever. The above mentioned problems with 5/3 aren't even half of it, I could go on for hours but don't have the time.
Bottom line: If you have a bank account with 5/3 now, LEAVE. They WILL screw you.
If you do not have a bank account with 5/3, don't ever get one. They WILL screw you.
